In the past, Randy Quaid has expressed his conviction that Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were “murdered.”

Last week, the news broke that the two had been discovered dead at their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home, shocking the entertainment community. According to information later gleaned from a search warrant, the case has been judged suspicious enough for an investigation, despite initial assertions that no foul play was suspected.

The peculiar circumstances surrounding the murders may have contributed to the plethora of conspiracy ideas that have been circulating online in recent days. Last Monday, according to the Associated Press, Hackman’s wife was found in a bathroom next to a space heater, while his body was recovered in a mudroom.

An update provided in a search warrant from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office also described how drugs and an open prescription bottle were strewn across the restroom counter.

In an interview with TMZ, Elizabeth Jean Hackman, one of Hackman’s daughters, revealed that although the family wasn’t positive what caused the deaths, they felt carbon monoxide poisoning might be the cause.

“The house is fairly modern, built in 2000,” Elizabeth explained, “but we don’t know if there were any issues with gas leaks or if there were any recent service calls to the property.”

The Santa Fe City Fire Department appears to have ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning or leakage as part of their investigation into the deaths because they did not find any evidence at the residence.

According to reports, the New Mexico Gas Company tested the gas pipe and the area surrounding the house and discovered no evidence of this either.

Randy Quaid, who expressed his irrational suspicion that Hackman and Akawara had been murdered, was one of the celebrities who spoke out about the tragedy.

The 74-year-old wrote on X: “Gene Hackman and his wife are murder victims, some scum bags did it and staged it. Stop talking about the films he is in, this is how they get away with murdering famous people!”

Quaid, who frequently makes contentious remarks, continued by saying:

“I should become a special FBI agent to these investigations of Hollywood Murders!”

“I already have some good leads on who killed Gene Hackman,’ he wrote, but did not share his theories.“
