Drooling is involuntary, controlled by the autonomic nervous system. It can result from mouth breathing, stress, fatigue, or sleeping positions. In children, drooling is common due to weak oral muscles. In adults, persistent drooling may signal conditions such as oral diseases, facial paralysis, gastroesophageal reflux, Parkinsonโs disease, cerebral thrombosis, or arteriosclerosis.
To reduce drooling, individuals can change sleeping positions, maintain oral hygiene, and consult a doctor if medications are involved.
